Edo 2024: How Obaseki stopped APC rigging machinery, thwarted moves to announce results at night

20 Sep 2024

As Nigerians wait anxiously for the result of the Edo State Governorship election, it has been revealed that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, had in the dead of the night stormed the State Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to halt irregularities with the collation of election results.

INEC had halted collation of results from across Ikpoba Okha, Egor and Oredo Local Government Areas and moved the collation exercise to the State INEC office in Aduwawa, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, in breach of the Electoral Act and INEC rules and guidelines.

In a move to stop their evil machinations, Governor Obaseki stormed the office demanded for the officials to stick to the law, which forced the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr, Anugbum Onuoha, to halt the process.

The move is seen as been strategic to ensuring that results from the local councils are not tampered with or compromised as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agents were earlier prevented from gaining access to the venue.
