The Edo State Government has paid civil and public servants’ salaries for the month of March, assuring that it will continue to meet its statutory obligations to workers before the 26th day of every month.

In a statement, Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Chris Nehikhare, noted that alongside workers who have received their salaries, pensioners have also been paid their pensions for the month of March.

According to him, “The Edo State Government led by Governor Godwin Obaseki has paid workers’ salaries for the Month of March. Pensioners have also gotten their due emoluments. They received their alerts on Sunday. This is very much in line with the government’s policy of ensuring that workers are paid before the 26th day of every month.

“We want to use this opportunity to appreciate workers for their commitment and steadfastness despite the harsh economic conditions we face. The workers have continued to discharge their duties in good faith and pushed even harder to ensure that government’s programmes, policies and reforms are implemented.”

He added that the government will continue to sustain reforms to alleviate the suffering caused by rising inflation, noting that the free bus ride scheme, improved work conditions, among others will be sustained.
