…school to open next academic session

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Tuesday, inspected the ongoing construction of the Edo State College of Health Sciences and Technology (EDOCOHEST) as the institution readies to receive an accreditation team ahead of the commencement of academic activities.

Obaseki led other members of the State’s Executive Council (EXCO) on on-the-spot assessment to the institution to assess the progress of work.

The governor, who spoke to journalists after the inspection, said the management team for the College has been hired and the team is working with the government to complete the infrastructural work while the admission of students into the school is being finalized.

He said, “We are expecting an accreditation team from the regulatory authorities to come and do a pre-accreditation visit to this school so that the process of getting all the accreditation for the operation of the institution is seamless.

“I am here today to inspect the extent of work and readiness for the team coming here in two weeks. We are inspecting the progress of work with a view to correcting whatever is to be corrected and putting it right so that before the next academic calendar year, the school will be accredited and opened for students.”

Obaseki added, “Work is progressing rapidly as we decided on this revamp less than a year ago. This work here is quite impressive as the job is high-class. However, there is more work to be done.

“We appreciate the management team for the College which has been hired. The provost and his team are here to see us and work with us to complete the infrastructural work while they finalize the admission process. This is so that we can launch the best institution to train workers for our primary healthcare system, not only for Edo State but the rest of the country.”

Responding, the Provost of the College, Dr. Moyo Kasim assured that “Our job is to follow the vision for His Excellency and we would make sure that this school of health technology is the best in the Country.

“The governor has made so much investment as we would do our best to admit the best to this college and the citizens of Edo will be proud of the products that will graduate from this school as we promise the governor.”
